Gas Prices Are Rising...Again

One of the largest gasoline manufacturers in the world, British Petroleum (BP), was forced to shut about 8 percent of the nation's domestic oil production after discovering "unexpectedly severe corrosion" in its pipelines in Alaska. This means that gas prices in the US could go up another 4 to 5 cents just this week. Not good.

I hate to be cynical, however, it is amazing how well this works out for BP.

Over the past couple of years they have made enormous profits that they can now invest in infastructure improvement. (I assume they will increase capacity)

But now this poor dear company has to shut down it's flow of oil from Alaska. Too bad . . Oops, but wait a minute! Gas prices will now escalate and they'll be able to reap an even larger profit on the remainder of their production!!! They're saved!!! Yippee!!!

In the end they'll make about the same money during the downtime while having their little pipeline enlarged so they can make even more.

This is an absolute dream come true for BP's executive management.

(Someone please tell me I've gone off the deep end)
